Comfort, Laughs & Porch Vibes | Walk to Park
Savannah, GA, United States
Welcome to the party sister’s flat at The Dueling Sisters Inn — a spacious, comfy 2BR in a historic 1848 home just blocks from Forsyth Park. Sip wine on the screened porch, share secrets in the courtyard, and sleep well in cozy queen beds. Simple, clean, and full of character, with TVs in every room, hardwood floors, and a kitchen for late-night snacks. This is where Savannah laughs once echoed — now it's your turn.
Good to know
Tucked into the downstairs level of one of Savannah’s most legendary townhouses, this two-bedroom, one-bath apartment is anything but ordinary. It’s old, a little crooked, and far from fancy — but if walls could talk, these would pour you a glass of wine and whisper stories from another time. This flat sits on the left side of a matched pair of early 18th-century homes, built by a local judge for his twin daughters: Myrle and Mildred, the infamous Dueling Sisters of Savannah. Mildred, the older and more rigid of the two, settled into the right-side home with her recipe cards and flower beds. Myrle — lively, unpredictable, and drawn to candlelight and scandal — made this lower-level flat her domain. They were born of the same mother, raised in the same household, but couldn’t have been more different in temperament. Some say their rivalry never quite ended — it just slipped into another realm. Today, the apartment offers a cozy, well-worn kind of comfort. You’ll find two queen bedrooms, a full kitchen, a simple bathroom, a dining nook for four, and a screened-in back porch that still seems to hum with the energy of long-forgotten gatherings. Step outside and you’ll have exclusive access to your own private fenced courtyard — a rare find in Savannah — where the sisters once traded secrets and sipped sweet tea under the stars. The home creaks. The doors stick. The light in the hallway flickers sometimes, though we’ve changed the bulb more than once. Some guests say they’ve felt a breeze without wind, or heard footsteps from a room that wasn’t occupied. One swore they caught the faint scent of gardenia and cigar smoke, Myrle’s supposed signature. We can’t promise anything supernatural — but we also can’t explain away every odd little moment. If you’re uneasy, just be polite. Myrle never caused trouble for guests who showed good manners and brought a bottle of wine. The unit is clean, simple, and full of personality, lovingly maintained by our longtime housekeeper and ghost negotiator, Miss Stacy. She’s been with the home for years and has her own theories about the sisters, particularly Myrle’s habit of hiding dish towels and knocking just once when no one’s there. Stacy may stop by during your stay to check on things, but otherwise, you’ll have the place to yourselves. This is a true Savannah home in the heart of the Historic District, just two blocks from Forsyth Park and an easy stroll to coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, and hidden garden squares. You can walk to River Street, join a haunted pub crawl, take in the art at SCAD, or simply sit on the porch and let the moss-draped trees do their thing. This neighborhood is one of the most walkable and photographed in the country — filled with charm, mystery, and more than a few ghosts of its own. This isn’t a luxury rental. It’s not shiny or staged. It’s real — a little worn around the edges, but warm, atmospheric, and welcoming in the way that only a well-lived-in Southern home can be. If you’re looking for something with soul, space to breathe, and a story you’ll want to tell later, this may be exactly what you’re looking for. And if you hear a soft knock at the door after midnight? Just smile and say, “Good evening, Miss Myrle.” She always did love an entrance.
Other Details to Note
This home was built in 1848, and she comes with all the quirks you’d expect from a grand old Southern dame. Expect creaky floors, historic oddities, and plenty of personality. She’s not perfect — but she’s clean, comfortable, and full of love. We welcome pets, but please note there is a $100 pet cleaning fee per stay. We kindly ask that furry friends stay off the furniture to help keep the home fresh for all guests. For stays over 30 days, guests will be billed separately for utilities (electric, water, and gas) based on actual usage during your stay. If you’re looking for a stay with soul — and don’t mind a few imperfections — you’ll feel right at home here.
